Troubleshooting
Start with what the EA says on its chart. The status line tells you which of the problems below you have. If MetaTrader shows a popup, it is a one-line pointer: the chart and the Experts tab have the details.
What the chart says
- Connected
- Everything works. The account updates in the app at the interval shown under "Sending".
- Connection key missing
- The EA's Connection Key input is empty or incomplete. The EA stays on the chart but sends nothing until you add the key: in the app, account icon → Connection key → copy; then open the EA's properties (MT5: right-click the chart → Expert list → Properties; MT4: right-click the chart → Expert Advisors → Properties), Inputs tab, and paste it into Connection Key. See Connection key.
- WebRequest blocked by MetaTrader (code)
- MetaTrader refuses to let the EA send data, because our address is missing from its allowed list. See Allowed URL. The number in brackets is MetaTrader's error code:
4006on MT5,4029on MT4 (sometimes4014,4060or0). - NOT CONNECTED (code)
- The request didn't reach our server for another reason. First check the allowed URL anyway — it is by far the most common cause — then this computer's internet connection. The EA keeps retrying every few seconds.
- Connection key not recognised
- The key in the EA doesn't match your account. Copy it again from the app (account icon → Connection key → copy) and paste it into the EA input Connection Key. If you rotated your key in the app, every EA needs the new one. See Connection key.
- Waiting for server update
- Your EA is newer than our server. This appears briefly while we roll out a new version; data starts flowing by itself, nothing to do.
- EA update required
- This EA version is no longer accepted. Download the latest version from the MQL5 Market, remove the old EA from the chart and attach the new one.
- Account limit reached
- Our server didn't accept this account; the line under the status gives the reason. Usually the Free edition's limit of 2 accounts: remove one in the app (account icon → Manage accounts), or wait for the Premium edition (20 accounts).
- Server error (number)
- A problem on our side. The EA retries automatically; if it persists for more than a few minutes, email support@equitywatchpro.com with the number.
Popups
MetaTrader's alert window is small, so the EA keeps popups to one line and puts the details on its chart and in the Experts tab (MT5: View → Toolbox → Experts; MT4: View → Terminal → Experts).
- Connection key missing — see chart.
- See Connection key missing above.
- Connection key not recognised — see chart.
- See Connection key. If you rotated your key, paste the new one into every EA.
- WebRequest blocked — see chart.
- Add our address to MetaTrader's allowed list: Allowed URL.
- can't reach the server — see chart.
- Check the allowed URL first, then the internet connection.
- EA update required — see chart.
- Install the latest EA from the MQL5 Market and attach it in place of the old one.
- account not accepted — see chart.
- The chart gives the reason, usually the Free edition's 2-account limit.
- please update MetaTrader — see log.
- This MetaTrader build is too old for the EA, so the EA stopped. Update MetaTrader (or reinstall it from your broker), then attach the EA again. The Experts tab has the details.
Each popup appears once per problem, not on every retry.
Allowed URL (the most common setup problem)
MetaTrader only lets an EA send data to addresses you have approved. Add ours once per terminal:
- Open the settingsIn MetaTrader: Tools → Options → Expert Advisors.
- Tick "Allow WebRequest for listed URL"
- Add the addressDouble-click the empty row and add exactly:
https://api.equitywatchpro.com
Type the complete address including
https://. MetaTrader 5 ignores partial entries such asequitywatchpro.com. - Click OKThe chart should switch to Connected within a minute. If it doesn't, restart MetaTrader and attach the EA again — some builds only read the list at start-up.
The same address is in the app with a copy button: account icon → MetaTrader Allowed URL.
Connection key
- Where to find it: in the app, account icon → Connection key → copy. It is shown hidden on screen; the copy button copies the whole key.
- One key, every terminal. Paste the same key into each EA's Connection Key input.
- Keep it private. Anyone with your key could send data to your dashboard. It cannot be used to read your data or place trades.
- Rotating it (account icon → Rotate key) replaces it immediately. Every EA using the old key stops updating until you paste the new one into it.
In the app
The app shows "Get Started" / no accounts
No EA has sent data for your account yet. Check the chart status on each terminal (above). Data appears within one update interval after the chart says Connected.
An account shows Disconnected
The EA hasn't sent an update for more than three of its update intervals: MetaTrader is closed, the EA was removed, the VPS is stopped or has no internet. A wrong clock on your computer or VPS no longer causes this — our server time-stamps every update itself.
Today's P&L looks wrong around midnight
"Today" follows your broker's trading day (broker server time), not your phone's midnight. Most brokers start the day at 21:00 or 22:00 UTC.
What is Floating DD?
Open loss as a percentage of equity, right now. It shows how deep the open trades are; it is not the drop from a previous equity high. The 7-day, 30-day and all-time figures on the Stats screen are the highest Floating DD seen in that period.
Floating DD alerts don't arrive (Premium)
Open the account menu and check the notification row. Green: active. Red "notifications disabled": Android Settings → Apps → Equity Watch Pro → Notifications → on, then restart the app. Also check the EA's warning and critical levels — 0 switches an alert off — and that the account's Floating DD actually reached them.
Some fields are empty (balance, broker, prices)
Those fields are switched off in the EA's privacy settings. Hidden fields are never sent, so the app has nothing to show.
The chart text is hard to read
Change Chart Text & Axis Colour or Chart Background Colour in the EA inputs.
Still stuck?
Send us a message from the app (account icon → Send feedback): it includes your app version so we can help faster. Or email support@equitywatchpro.com with what the chart says and the error code from MetaTrader's Experts tab.
